Almost done.... it just keeps going and going and going....

  1. So how big is it? It's very pretty! I only ask because you have to know for backing and batting purposes. I started quilting three years ago when my sister and sister-in-law got pregnant at the same time. I laugh now at my naivete at thinking that because I can sew well, quilting would be a cinch! I also laugh at myself for falling for the 'beginner' label that was put on the pattern I chose. Card tricks aren't all that easy!

  2. Thanks for your comment brightfeather! It was supposed to be a lap quilt but it turned into a "covers the top of a queen bed without overhang" size. And you are right about the assumption between sewing skill and quilting. I was asked to contribute a paper pieced block for a bd gift for someone at work at the dealer I worked for... they said it would take about 15 minutes. Over two hours, rising blood pressure, sweat on brow later - I was done. I need easy things like doghouse shirtsleeve plackets or welt pockets or such - things that made the fantastic quilters in the store feint!
It is done now, just adding a few purple heat set rhinestones inside the embroidered rose in corner then sending it off to my friend!
