........Ahh...fabric... The pleasure it gives in the hands of those who love it for what it is and what it can become is understood only by we who treasure it. Share which you love, which you don't, and what gems it becomes in your hands and imaginations!
So how big is it? It's very pretty! I only ask because you have to know for backing and batting purposes. I started quilting three years ago when my sister and sister-in-law got pregnant at the same time. I laugh now at my naivete at thinking that because I can sew well, quilting would be a cinch! I also laugh at myself for falling for the 'beginner' label that was put on the pattern I chose. Card tricks aren't all that easy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment brightfeather! It was supposed to be a lap quilt but it turned into a "covers the top of a queen bed without overhang" size. And you are right about the assumption between sewing skill and quilting. I was asked to contribute a paper pieced block for a bd gift for someone at work at the dealer I worked for... they said it would take about 15 minutes. Over two hours, rising blood pressure, sweat on brow later - I was done. I need easy things like doghouse shirtsleeve plackets or welt pockets or such - things that made the fantastic quilters in the store feint!
ReplyDeleteIt is done now, just adding a few purple heat set rhinestones inside the embroidered rose in corner then sending it off to my friend!
